The Skylon activation features floral displays, bright colours and honeycomb patternsSituated on London’s Southbank, Skylon has created a “visual spectacle” featuring honeycomb patterns, floral displays and bright colours to transport drinkers into a “dripping honeycomb”.
As part of the activation, the team at Skylon has created three cocktails that highlight the floral flavour of honey.
Drinks on offer at Skylon include the Honey BearDrinks on the bar’s menu include the Bee Old Fashioned, Honey!, which is made with Bulleit Bourbon, apple, hazelnut, orange, applewood honey smoke and Laurent Perrier Cuvée, and the Honey Bear, made with Zacapa rum, amaretto, turmeric, honey, peach, citrus and Laurent Perrier Cuvée.
The menu also features the Queen Bee, made with Tanqueray No 10 gin, hibiscus, Pimms Cup No 1, wild berry shrub, honey paint and Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rosé.
In support of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, guests that visit the bar between June and September will have £1 (US$1.30) added to their bill in support of the charity.
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust works to support the UK’s bumblebee population. According to professor Dave Goulson, director of the charity, Britain once boasted 25 native bumblebee species but three have disappeared in the last 50 years.
There are currently ten “severely threatened” species and two are “tethering on the edge of extinction”.
