ProWein 2019 achieves record visitor numbers
By Nicola CarruthersDüsseldorf trade fair ProWein closed its doors this week after attracting 61,500 visitors over the three-day event – a record number up from 60,500 in 2018.
ProWein 2019 celebrated record visitor numbers for its 25th anniversary
Visitors from 142 countries headed to the 25th anniversary ProWein show, which was held from 17-19 March.
More than 6,900 wine and spirits exhibitors were present at the fair, 400 of which were spirits.
The Same but Different ‘craft’ concept, which first launched in 2018, featured more than 100 ‘craft’ spirits, beer and ciders this year.
“When we launched ProWein 25 years ago, none of us could have imagined just how incredibly it would develop,” said Hans Werner Reinhard, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf.
“It’s taken a massive amount of hard work and strong support along the way from our partners to grow this exhibition step for step into the world’s largest and most important trade fair for wine and spirits. And we’ve got many things planned for our future as well.”
The 2020 edition of ProWein will take place on 15-17 March in Düsseldorf. One year later, ProWein will welcome guests from 21-23 March 2021 with an expanded hall layout.
The next ProWine Asia is scheduled for 7-10 May 2019 in Hong Kong, followed by its sister ProWine China event in Singapore from 12-14 November.
Last month, ProWein named Bastian Mingers director of the trade show, and global head for wine and spirits.
