Hendrick’s says ‘I love you’ with Valentine’s cucumbers

Never one to stick to convention, Hendrick’s Gin is offering loved-up consumers a peculiar alternative to traditional Valentine’s Day flowers – cucumber bouquets.

As part of its A Most Unusual Valentine’s campaign, Hendrick’s has partnered with Iris Singapore to create alternative ways for consumers to express their love this Valentine’s Day (14 February).

As part of the campaign, Hendrick’s has ditched your regular floral assortment in favour of “wonderfully curious bouquets”.

Bouquet options include ‘The Solo’, described as a “proud one-cucumber bouquet”, and ‘The Trio’ – “an unusually romantic cucumber threesome”. Each comes with a 700ml bottle of Hendrick’s Gin.

Hendrick’s also says to “forget engraved jewellery”, and has instead teamed up with artists from The Workroom to offer personalised cucumber engraving – “etching in its customers’ heartfelt romantic messages on delicate cucumis sativus”.

Charlene Low, regional brand manager of William Grant & Sons-owned Hendrick’s Gin, said: “The twist on tradition is very much on brand – the cucumber bouquet accentuates the sum of its parts and is a unique representation of what Hendrick’s is.”

The bouquets are available to purchase online at hendricksvday.com, while more than 20 outlets in Singapore are also offering specially designed Valentine’s-themed boxes with unusual gifts and “cheeky” cards with each purchase of a Hendrick’s cocktail from 13-17 February.

A ‘Cu-lossal’ 50-strong cucumber bouquet

Lastly, Hendrick’s is also offering one loved-up gin fan the chance to win the ‘Cu-lossal’ Hendrick’s Bouquet for their loved one – a 50-strong cucumber masterpiece.

To be in with the chance of winning the cucumber extravaganza, entrants must submit an unconventional Valentine’s poem via the Hendrick’s Gin SEA Facebook page.

Cheryl Cheong, of Iris Singapore, said: “Valentine’s Day is a cluttered and conventional space, so we wanted to celebrate the occasion in a way that only Hendrick’s could.

“We all know roses are synonymous with Valentine’s Day, but you might not know that Hendrick’s Gin is made of a unique infusion of rose and cucumber – giving us the perfect opportunity to revive the tired rose by celebrating its very special relationship to the cucumber, in all its quirky glory.”
