FAM, London

Bartenders Dre Masso, Megs Miller and Rhys Wilson opened the doors to FAM in December.

Located behind Selfridges in Duke Street, the new bar is the result of a collaboration between bar consultancy Comunidad – formed by Masso, Miller and Wilson – and bar operators Eric Yu and Martin Malley.

The new bar has been created to pay homage to the “uniquely eclectic, global nature” of London, emulated through the venue’s food and drinks offerings. The walls feature portraits of prominent London bartenders, past and present, and there is also a wall filled with vinyl records selected by the founders’ family and friends.

Meraki Bar, London

Zuma and The Arts Club owner Peter Waney along with partners Alain Dona, Adam Bel Hadj and Laurent Manuel opened this subterranean hidden living room bar last month.

The new Meraki Bar is housed below popular modern Greek restaurant Meraki in Fitzrovia and aims to bring the Mykonos party vibe to London.

Set across two floors, the main upstairs bar is open to the public where guests can enjoy an after-work cocktail or order dinner. Meanwhile, via a separate secret entrance, guests can descend into a subterranean bar and lounge that is ideal for a big night out spent under the radar.

Redemption Seven Dials, London

London-based vegan restaurant Redemption Bar has opened its third site, which claims to feature the capital’s “first” alcohol-free cocktail bar.

The new venue in Seven Dials is divided into a restaurant serving whole food, vegan and gluten-free dishes, and a bar serving booze-free drinks.

Redemption Bar’s cocktails include the Pious Piña Colada, made from pineapple, lemon and coconut, and the My Thai, which combines lemongrass and chilli shrub with fresh lime and sparkling water. The new site also offers kombucha on tap and a selection of alcohol-free beers, wines and spirits.

Lebua No. 3, Bangkok

The world’s tallest gin, caviar and vodka bar, Lebua No. 3, has put its cocktail shakers into action on the 52nd floor of Tower Club in Bangkok.

Opened by Deepak Ohri, CEO of Lebua Hotels and Resorts, Lebua No. 3 features premium spirits, caviar and even a private-label album created by music producer Andrew Murray.

Expert bartenders have created a menu of innovative gin- and vodka-based cocktails made with unique ingredients including caviar air, yuzu juice, Darjeeling tea, curry syrup and Thai chilli.

Ritorno, London

Opening in London’s Covent Garden, Ritorno is hoping to become an oasis in the heart of the bustling city.

The Italian-style brasserie serves up homemade pasta, thin crust pizza and fresh seafood dishes alongside a comprehensive mediterranean beverage programme.

The new venue is shaking and stirring signature cocktails, including the Beehive Worker, made with Botran 18, Tio Pepe, honey, lime, Propoli drops and smoked powder.

Croque Monsieur, London

In December, absinthe bar Croque Monsieur opened its doors beneath the newest branch of London-based pizza restaurant Lost Boys.

The Camden absinthe bar will transport drinkers through the history of the anise spirit, from its dark history into London’s present.

Featuring absinthe fountains on each table, church pews as seating and Art Deco prints on the wall, Croque Monsieur will offer an extensive range of absinthe, from reversed engineered liquids to more traditional names, each served up in its purest form, as well as in a range of signature cocktails.

Dabbers, London

This new modern bingo venue opened in east London in December, aiming to reinvigorate the iconic British pastime.

Dabbers has replaced “cups of tea with cocktails, bingo callers with comedians and dreary prizes with incredible experiences”.

The London venue has modernised the popular game with interactive game show elements and a food and drinks offering that includes craft beers, creative cocktails and a carefully selected wine list.

Tabac opened in London’s Kentish Town last month, inspired by the wine and cigarette-festooned ‘tabacs’ that are spread across France.

Tabac has opened in the site of an old tobacconist shop and has kept the original sign. The London bar will serve wine, apéritifs and spirits along with a snack menu that includes cheese and charcuterie boards, paté, olives, nuts and saucisson.
