Amber Beverage Group appoints GTR head

Luxembourg-based Amber Beverage Group has appointed Walter Kooijman to the newly created role of managing director of EMEIA and global travel retail.

In his new role, Kooijman will lead the development of the company’s core brands and will implement a growth strategy in the EMEIA region and in global travel retail.

Kooijman has 20 years of international sales experience in alcohol companies including Roust, Rémy Cointreau and Lucas Bols.

He has a “considerable track record” in growing sales globally and developing brands, along with extensive experience working in the Netherlands, France, the UK and China.

Fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish and French, Kooijman holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Last month, Amber Beverage Group acquired a majority stake in Russian spirits producer Permalko, which is thought to be one of the oldest distilleries in Russia.
