New Zealand Whisky Collection debuts crowdfunding campaign
The New Zealand Whisky Collection is seeking to raise NZ$500,000 (US$330,000) through a crowdfunding campaign to build a new distillery and enter new markets.
The New Zealand Whisky Collection is based in Oamaru in North Otago, New Zealand
Said to have spurred the revival of New Zealand’s whisky industry, The New Zealand Whisky Collection sources liquid from the Dunedin Distillery, once owned by Seagram’s.
The company produces Dunedin Doublewood, High Wheeler, South Island Single Malt 25 Year Old and The Oamaruvian brands.
To date, the company has raised NZ$127,207 on Pledge Me, with the crowdfunding campaign set to close on 11 November 2018.
The investment will go towards moving its operations in Oamaru to a larger warehouse and production area to meet demand for its products.
It will also go towards marketing in regions such as Australia, Europe, the US and Taiwan.
The firm also plans to enter new regions such as Asia, which has “huge potential”, and parts of Europe. A new distillery will help New Zealand Whisky Collection to produce a “large, consistent supply of high quality whisky” from 2021 so it can “continue seeding new export regions in 2019 with existing stock”.
In addition, the New Zealand Whisky Collection is looking to grow its trade and retail sales in New Zealand and will move its products back to the original 700ml bottle size.
The New Zealand Whisky Collection is offering shares in the company to raise a maximum of NZ$2 million for up to 16.9% of the company. Shares are priced at NZ$1 and the minimum investment amount is NZ$500.
The company is also offering a VIP discount card, a duo tasting set, an invitation to attend its annual general meeting, an invite to a distillery open day and the option to host one event per year at the distillery for free.
