Aske and Stephenson install whisky vending machine

The founders of pioneering London bar Black Rock have installed a new whisky vending machine to celebrate the first anniversary of their subscription service Whisky-Me.

Whisky-Me’s vending machine aims to “simplify the seemingly complicated world of whisky”

Thomas Aske and Tristan Stephenson, co-owners of consultancy Fluid Movement and the brains behind groundbreaking Shoreditch whisky bar Black Rock, launched Whisky-Me in November last year.

The monthly subscription service offers members 50ml pouches of “rare and exclusive” single malts, the identities of which are left a mystery until they arrive in the post. The service aims to “reinvent the serious image of Scotch whisky with a fun and fuss-free approach”.

Now, Whisky-Me is seeking to further “simplify the seemingly complicated world of whisky” with the installation of a new whisky vending machine in front of The Napoleon Hotel, where Black Rock is based.

Throughout November and December, whisky enthusiasts will be able to purchase tokens from upstairs bar Devil’s Darling to access the Whisky-Me pouches inside the machine.

The whiskies have been selected by Aske and Stephenson and include a special ‘birthday whisky’, as well as other expressions that have previously featured in Whisky-Me’s subscription service.

Each pouch from the vending machine costs £7.95 (US$10).
