Gin brand Bombay Sapphire launched its latest immersive installation, called Canvas, this week.

The destination is designed to inspire creative self-expression and was launched by the gin brand at a VIP night attended by numerous creative professionals.

Guests including actress Gemma Chan and model Erin O’Connor were able to customise their own Bombay Sapphire Canvas cocktails with flavoured edible paints, while artists Alex May Hughes and Josh McKenna transformed the space from a blank canvas into a living work of art.

This week, Boodles Gin partnered with bar and events group Bourne and Hollingsworth and Chap Magazine for the annual Chap Olympiad.

The day-long celebration is a roster of live music and entertainment, including Olympiad games such as a three-legged gin and tonic race, umbrella jousting and riding crop rumpus.

Boodles Gin also hosted its “quintessentially British cocktail bar”, serving cocktails including the Young Chap, a combination of Boodles Gin and Sicilian Lemonade garnished with mint.

Ahead of the upcoming regional heats in Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow, herbal liqueur brand Jägermeister has announced the winners of the London leg of its Mëister Hunter cocktail competition.

After a tough competition to create the best recipe using the herbal liqueur, the judges decided to put Francesco Petracci of The Gibson and Hamish Dowie from Bar Swift through to the final, which will take place in Manchester in September. Further regional heats will take place in the coming weeks.

Rum brand Wood’s Navy Rum this week announced plans to celebrate the 48th anniversary of Black Tot Day in true sailor-style with a boat party in London.

To commemorate the last day the Royal Navy issued sailors with a daily rum ration, Wood’s Navy Rum and Ladies & Gentlemen bar will be serving up free Greenheart Grog cocktails on-board their ship, as well as offering one lucky seafarer the chance to win a complimentary boat tour.

Wood’s and Ladies & Gentlemen bar will sail their barge through the canals of London on 31 July for a summer of exploration, music, boat tours and Wood’s rum cocktails.

To celebrate its newly refreshed bottle design, Sailor Jerry launched its Win Your Ink prize draw on Instagram.

The competition runs until 31 August and offers fans the chance to win one of five personalised tattoos, or the ultimate prize, a trip to Hawaii.

To enter the contest, fans are encouraged to take a photo of their skin with a bottle of the newly redesigned Sailor Jerry rum in the frame and upload the image to Instagram with the hashtag #WINYOURINK.

On Tuesday, SB headed to award-winning bar Nightjar to sample its latest cocktail creations, all inspired by the arts and crafts philosophy between 1880 and 1920.

Each libation is a twist on classic recipes and has been created to emulate the bar team’s “artistic vision and attention to detail”. All glassware and vessels have also been designed by the team.

This week, London bar The Little Blue Door launched a complete Kitchen takeover with Burger and Lobster, switching up its menus to feature plenty of surf and turf.

The menu saw Burger & Lobster take on The Little Blue Door’s drinks list by combining American classics with the fictional flatmates’ favourite dishes.

The kitchen takeover featured everything from lobster benedict, to egg-filled burgers and lobster salads, all served alongside bottomless prosecco and house Punch.

At this year’s Tales of the Cocktail, UK Hendrick’s Gin brand ambassador Sasha Filimonov teamed up with London bar Scout, and Operation Dagger from Singapore to deliver a “one-of-a-kind” pop-up experience.

Taking over Bar Tonique, the experience saw the trio bring their signature styles, serves and sustainable ethos stateside through a dedicated Hendrick’s Gin cocktail menu.

The pop-up focussed on living off the land, showcasing how to use local produce and an emphasis on zero-waste and closed-loop cocktails.

This week, details were announced for the second annual London Mezcal Week, due to take place in the capital between 10 and 16 September.

Celebrating many lesser-known, traditionally made mezcal brands, the week-long mezcal fiesta will take the form of a series of events across London, including tastings, dinners, talks and parties, plus a host of bars serving special mezcal cocktails.

There will also be several pop-up mezcalerias appearing throughout the week to give imbibers a taste of Mexico.

Merchant House of Fleet Street, London, partnered with Irish whiskey brand Dingle Distillery to celebrate the launch of its third small batch release this week.

The bar is holding a lottery to own one of its highly sought after luxury liquor lockers, which can house up to three bottles that owners may then drink from at no extra cost.

The locker will include complimentary bottle of the rare limited edition Dingle Distillery Batch No 3 Single Malt, a bottle of a “dream dram” and a pair of bespoke whiskey glasses, to enjoy as and when the winner visits the bar.

London venue 100 Wardour Street this week launched its latest intimate performance series, West End on Wardour.

The series will see events take place at the London bar every Wednesday, featuring performances from West End star Emma Lindars, who has appeared in Shrek the Musical, and other special guests.

A changing weekly set menu and bottomless wine will be available to guests at the series, which runs for the remaining Wednesdays in July.

London spirits maker Sacred Spirits this week announced its Spirit of Innovation cocktail competition, which challenges bartenders to innovate with the brand’s portfolio.
Bartenders wishing to enter must submit their signature serve, including a name and recipe, and show how the drink embraces “the spirit of innovation” to spirit@sacredgin.com by 28 August.
Five regional heats will be held in September and the final will be held in London on 10 October, with the judges for the final including world renowned bartenders Alessandro Palazzi and Remy Savage.
