Pickering’s opens gin and seafood bar in Beijing
By Melita KielyScottish gin brand Pickering’s has opened a new gin and seafood bar in Beijing, with plans to launch up to 19 additional venues across China.
Pickering’s Gin and Seafood Bar is the first of up to 19 venues planned for China
Pickering’s Gin and Seafood Bar officially opened its doors on 21 July at an event attended by 100 local dignitaries, celebrities and influencers from the Chinese capital.
Situated in the Sanlitun area of Chaoyang District, the venue is part of Pickering’s long-term export strategy for the distillery.
The venue is 270 square metres in size and boasts a 120-cover restaurant, three bars, a live music stage and a ‘peacock nest’ for “immersive” Pickering’s brand experiences.
Pickering’s UK brand ambassador Stevie Watson teamed up with award-winning head mixologist John Hung to design the cocktail menu for the venue.
Marcus Pickering, co-founder and head of export, said: “In the next six months we will work towards having the seafood on the menu sourced exclusively from Scotland, including lobster, oysters and mussels.
“We are working with the Department of International Trade and Scottish Development International to make this a truly Scottish destination in Beijing.
“We’re confident this is just the first of many Pickering’s Gin bars in China.”
