Famous Grouse Ruby Cask joins experimental series
Blended Scotch The Famous Grouse has released the second expression in its Cask Series, which has been aged in Port-seasoned barrels – Ruby Cask.
The Famous Grouse Ruby Cask has been rested in Port-seasoned oak casks
Available exclusively at UK supermarket Sainsbury’s, The Famous Grouse Ruby Cask was matured in oak casks seasoned with Port, and is said to have a “mellow layer of red fruit sweetness reminiscent of a good fruitcake”.
Bottled at 40% abv, The Famous Grouse Ruby Cask has an RRP of £16.50 (US$21.75).
Kirsteen Campbell, The Famous Grouse master blender, said: “We place such a lot of importance on the quality of our wood as it is such an integral part of bringing the product to life.
“Each cask is unique and each brings something different to the spirit.”
The first expression in the brand’s Cask Series launched in April this year, The Famous Grouse Bourbon Cask. The series aims to offer whisky fans an affordable way to experiment with different whisky flavours and cask-styles.
Chris Anderson, head of brands at Edrington-Beam Suntory UK, said: “Consumers today are willing to spend more on a product they enjoy to treat themselves but what’s more, they’re inquisitive drinkers and enjoy exploring new flavour profiles.
“This soft but spicy twist on The Famous Grouse flavour in our new Cask Series offers consumers the opportunity to experience this.”
