Edrington GTR appoints EMEA managing director

Edrington Global Travel Retail has appointed Jeremy Speirs to the role of managing director – Europe, Middle East and Africa travel retail.

L-R: Kasper Andersen and Jeremy Speirs

Speirs has swapped roles with Kasper Andersen, who will become managing director – Edrington Nordics.

In his previous role, Speirs oversaw the “strong recovery” of blended Scotch brand The Famous Grouse and doubled sales of The Macallan single malt Scotch in the same three-year period.

Previously serving as area director for China and Australasia and later as business development director – Asia Pacific, Spiers helped to “rapidly” grow The Macallan in Asia Pacific.

Andersen was “instrumental” in establishing the Edrington European Travel Retail business in 2015 and leading the integration of the Middle East and Africa team to create the EMEA travel retail business unit in 2017.

Since 2015, Andersen has helped “accelerate” The Macallan to deliver “strong double-digit growth”, and boosted its presence in key airports in the region.

Igor Boyadjian, managing director, Edrington Global Travel Retail: “Both Jeremy and Kasper are hugely valued and respected members of the Edrington business with strong track-records for driving growth and spearheading the premium innovation agenda for which Edrington is known.

“Jeremy inherits an EMEA TR business unit which is in extremely robust health and he can rely on a talented team to drive our strategy at pace and reinforce the equity of our brands in Europe, Middle-East and Africa. He will continue to build on existing relationships and work closely with our partners across the region to enhance our retail experience and particularly strengthen the visibility and luxury positioning of The Macallan in key airports.

“Jeremy’s experience – particularly that gained while laying the foundations for The Macallan’s growth in Asia – will be invaluable as we continue to refine our premiumisation strategy in the EMEA region and drive growth for both our brands and our retail partners.”
