RTD range without artificial sweeteners launches in UK

A new brand is hoping to “disrupt” the ready-to-drink (RTD) market in the UK with a range that is free from artificial preservatives and sweeteners.

Wild Rose is one of the flavours offered by RTD brand Silver Swift

Silver Swift, which launched in the UK in December, is a range of ‘craft’ RTD products made with British vodka and gin.

Its line currently consists of three flavours: Wild Rose Gin, Tipsy Iced Tea, and Fresh Venture. All carry an abv of 5% and contain less then 94 calories per bottle.

According to Silver Swift, its range aims to cater to an unmet consumer demand for premium RTDs. It also targets pubs and restaurants that do not currently serve cocktails.

Rose Unwin, founder of the brand, said: “Silver Swift is the drink I wish I had, for its taste and ease. As well as the on-trade, planes, trains, events and retail all cry out for the convenience of a bar-quality pre-mixed cocktail without any of the artificial nasties. Clean drinking goes hand-in-hand with clean eating nowadays.”

Unwin added that Silver Swift “celebrates” herbs and fruits grown on the British Isles, allowing it to “avoid unnecessary air miles”.

“I feel strongly about the environment, which is why we don’t support the use of plastic straws and we’re organising beach clean ups this summer,” she added.

“We use glass bottles as they’re fully recyclable and glass is the only packaging material that doesn’t require an extra layer to protect freshness or flavour.

“Being a non-porous and inert material means it will not leach any synthetic chemicals into its contents.”
