Malfy Gin launches orange-flavoured expression

14th March, 2018 by Nicola Carruthers

Italian gin brand Malfy has added a new expression to its range – Malfy Gin Con Arancia, which is distilled with Sicilian blood oranges.

Malfy Gin Con Arancia has been made with peel of Sicilian blood oranges

The new product joins Malfy Gin Con Limone and Malfy Gin Originale, in the range.

Con Arancia is packaged in a frosted bottle, which is adorned with five rings, representing the orange peel ingredient.

To make the expression, Sicilian blood orange peels and Italian juniper were infused in Italian grain spirit for 36 hours. Lemon peel, grapefruit peel, angelica root, orris root and coriander were then distilled in a stainless steel vacuum still for five hours.

Created by master distillers Beppe Ronco and Denis Muni, the result is a “vibrant” gin with “zesty, citrus notes”.

Ronco said: “We have created a completely unique taste profile bursting with citrus flavours throughout. The experience begins with orange blossom enveloping the nose whilst on the palate crisp, citrus-forward, raspberry-like flavours are nicely balanced by classic herbal notes. To finish, a final burst of sweet orange zest offers a surprisingly smooth, well-rounded mouth feel.”

Elwyn Gladstone, founder and owner of Biggar & Leith, the owner of Malfy Gin, said: “The timing of this release is a direct response to the UK’s particular interest in discovering and experimenting with Italian culture and produce, with gin at the very heart of that.

“Further afield, Malfy Gin has grown to become one of the fastest growing super-premium gin brands in the world, with our range now available in over 50 countries.”

Malfy Gin Con Arancia is available in the UK in 700ml format from When We Are Giants, part of the Drinksology Group, for an RRP of £28 (US$39) per bottle.
