Chapel Gate recognised as ‘brand of tomorrow’

The Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey Co has been named on the Walpole Brands of Tomorrow programme, which offers funding and support to entrepreneurs.

JJ Corry The Gael is a blend of 26, 11 and 15-year-old single malt and seven-year-old single grain whiskey

The Irish whiskey bonder joins 11 luxury businesses on the programme, which identifies brands that have “captured the attention of their respective industries”.

The year-long programme of mentoring and workshops aims to help new companies accelerate growth and develop their business skills.

Louise McGuane, founder of the County Clare-based whiskey bonder, said: “When I founded this business I positioned it squarely in the luxury sector. This is reflected in everything that we do, from the rarity and maturity of the whiskeys we use in our award-winning flagship blend, JJ Corry The Gael, to the detailing on our packaging.

“One of our core business goals is to become the breakout luxury Irish Whiskey Brand. As a Walpole Brand of Tomorrow we will be able to avail connections and mentorship from some of the world’s best known luxury brands allowing us to accelerate our path to that goal.”

This year’s Brands of Tomorrow list also includes Castore, a premium sportswear brand, and online flower delivery service, Flowerbx.

Helen Brocklebank, Walpole CEO, said: “It’s excellent to see a diverse range of luxury entrepreneurs entering the market from luxe sportswear to tailoring, skincare to whiskey. With many success stories from the programme over the past decade, Walpole’s mentorship programmes ensure we secure the future growth of the luxury industry.”

Earlier this year, McGuane called for the EU to amend laws stating what information can be printed on blended whiskey labels.
