Benevolent raises £25,500 through silent auction

UK drinks industry charity The Benevolent has raised £25,500 (US$34,500) through its Thanks for Giving silent auction.

The Benevolent is a charity dedicated to supporting past and present members of the UK drinks industry

Launched on 23 November, Thanksgiving Day, the auction featured 70 “one-of-a-kind” items, among them a private box at The Royal Albert Hall to see Cirque Du Soleil and a VIP opportunity to attend the filming of the Graham Norton Show.

David Cox, who will soon retire as chief executive of The Benevolent, said: “This is another heart-warming example of members of our trade recognising the need to support this vibrant and highly effective trade charity and entering into the spirit of competitive bidding.

“As a last initiative prior to my retirement, I am delighted that we have beaten our budget and I thank sincerely all the generous donors of auction lots and, of course the successful bidders.”

The £25,500 amount will allow The Benevolent to continue providing support to members of the UK drinks industry facing serious illness, financial hardship or personal crisis.

The Benevolent is the only charity that supports employees, or former employees, from every area of the UK drinks industry. For more information, go to www.thebenevolent.org.uk.
