The Ivy partners with Chase Distillery for commemorative gin

London restaurant The Ivy has partnered with Herefordshire’s Chase Distillery to create The Ivy Centenary Gin as part of its ongoing 100th anniversary celebrations.

The Ivy has partnered with Herefordshire’s Chase Distillery to create a commemorative gin

Created in collaboration with The Ivy’s bar team, the gin features English ivy as a lead botanical, alongside spruce needles, sage leaf, coriander and bitter almond.

The resulting liquid has a “distinctive pine flavour” with notes of “herbaceous juniper” and a “light, fresh herbal and citrus” finish.

Bar manager Darren Ball has created a selection of serves to complement the commemorative bottling, which is presented in a 700ml bottle that features The Ivy’s signature stained glass.

The art deco-style restaurant opened as a café in 1917, and by the end of the 1920s it had become one of the most famous eateries in the world.

“Gin has always played an important role in the history of The Ivy, with bartenders serving up classic gin cocktails from the 1920’s onwards,” said Ball. “It remains one of our most popular spirits and it seemed only right that we should recognise this celebratory year with a commemorative spirit.

“The Ivy Centenary Gin works beautifully in classic serves such as a Gin and Tonic or Dry Martini, where the herbal and pine notes shine through.”

The Ivy Centenary Gin is available to purchase from John Lewis for £50, and will be served in mixed drinks and cocktails to guests at The Ivy, West Street and at all The Ivy Collection restaurants from mid-September.
