Bacardi GTR and Virgin unveil virtual reality bar tour

Bacardi Global Travel Retail has teamed up with Virgin Atlantic to launch a virtual reality cocktail tour of the world’s best bars for Virgin’s Clubhouse customers.

The virtual reality experience takes customers on a tour of some of the world’s best bars

Running through until the end of 2017, the ‘Immersive Digital 360 Drinks Experience’ brings signature drinks from bar’s around the world through a virtual reality tour.

Bars taking part include Dandelyan, London; White Lyan, London; BlackTail, New York; Smugglers Cove, San Francisco; The Walker Inn, Los Angeles, Columbia Room, Washington; Ruka, Boston; and Employees Only, New York.

Customers can order a cocktail from New York, for example, while sat at Heathrow, and be transported to the partner bar. After watching the cocktail made right in front of the customer in the actual bar and removing the headset, the drink is ready to be enjoyed.

To create the experience, Virgin Clubhouse food and beverage manager, Mark Murphy, travelled the world filming the bars in high definition 360-degree video.
