London’s Aqua Shard debuts summer menu

The bar at sky-high London restaurant Aqua Shard is inviting imbibers to ‘Wind Up’ or ‘Wind Down’ with its latest four-strong cocktail concept.

Aqua Shard is inviting imbibers to ‘Wind Up’ or ‘Wind Down’ with its summer menu

Created by bar manager Luca Missaglia, the menu is divided into two sections: Wind Up and Wind Down.

The Wind Up serves have been designed to “rejuvenate, invigorate and revitalise”, while the Wind Down selection aims to “soothe, relax and unwind”.

Located on Level 31 of The Shard, Aqua Shard will make the menu available every Friday and Saturday until 3am throughout the summer months.

Kick Start

Section: Wind Up

Ingredients: Tapatio Blanco Tequila, smoked chipotle, pineapple and pink peppercorn chutney

Description: Kick Start is a fiery concoction and the perfect choice for those in need of a late night pick-me-up. Combining Tapatio Blanco Tequila with smoky chipotle syrup and punchy chilli chutney, Missaglia showcases a contemporary take on a classic Shrub with this peppercorn twist.

Caribbean Colada

Section: Wind Up

Ingredients: Mount Gay rum, arrak, homemade honey and pineapple cordial, coconut water

Description: The crisp and refreshing Caribbean Colada offers a taste of the carnival; Arrak, coconut water, soda and homemade honey and pineapple cordial are mixed and served over crushed ice, and garnished with frozen banana leaf, fresh pineapple and black pepper.

Lavender and Lime

Section: Wind Down

Ingredients: Arrack-infused pineapple, Italian aperitif, Maraschino, lavender and lime cordial

Description: Missaglia’s Lavender and Lime mixes Cocchi Americano aperitif, pineapple-infused arrak and maraschino, with the soothing notes of homemade lavender and lime cordial.

Calming Cognac

Section: Wind Down

Ingredients: Hennessy Fine de Cognac, Sauternes and camomile reduction, Abbott’s Bitters, absinthe and camomile air

Description: The Calming Cognac is smooth and light on the palate. French sweet Sauterne is complemented with camomile in a warming reduction, combined with Hennessy, and finished with Absinthe ‘air’ – infused bubbles playfully balanced atop the cocktail.
