By Kristiane SherryBrown-Forman’s whiskey brand Woodford Reserve and London haunt The Punch Room have partnered for a second year for a host of bar takeovers and activations in the US.
A punch from the Scandal Water tourFrom early June, the Bourbon brand, along with the bar team from London, travelled from Louisville, Kentucky, close to the Woodford Reserve distillery, to the West coast.
Taking in cities including Los Angeles and San Francisco, the tour saw The Punch Room bar team along with Woodford Reserve’s global ambassador, Tom Vernon, and Brown-Forman head of brand advocacy for Northern Europe, Nidal Ramini, educate the “next generation” of bartenders.
The team hosted a series of seminars called ‘Scandal Water – A History of Punch’ to share the history of the drink and give inspiration for future cocktails.
Woodford Reserve featured serves included Oxford Punch, Wedding Punch, A La Diable Punch, Milk Punch and the Oak Moss Old Fashioned, all of which feature on The Punch Room menu.
To mark the occasions three bars – The Spare Room at The Roosevelt Hotel, Los Angeles, The Treasury, San Francisco and Meta, Louisville – created five-drink menus to celebrate the five ingredients in a typical punch.
“We are delighted to continue our support of the next generation of bartenders by working with our friends at the Punch Room,” said Ramini.
“We have a great relationship with the team at the Punch Room, and are tidied by our common value of craftsmanship and wanting to inspire the next generation of bartenders in our industry, which is what made this piece work so well.”
