Lindores Abbey Distillery seeks names for new kittens
New Fife whisky distillery Lindores Abbey has recruited two new mousers-in-training – and has launched a competition to name the kittens.
The two new kitties – the little black one is a boy, the slightly larger calico a girl – joined the Lindores Abbey team after distillery cat Toffee sadly passed away earlier this year. Toffee spent 19 happy years at the helm of rodent control, and now the two new fluffy recruits need training up.
They also need to be named – and Lindores Abbey is asking for suggestions from the public over the next few days.
Names should be inspired by whisky and the history of the Lindores Abbey site, which is considered the “oldest landmark” in Scotch.
Entries should be sent to gee[at]lindoresabbeydistillery[dot]com, and the winner will receive membership to the distillery’s recently launched Preservation Society.
Society members – it usually costs £60 (US$76) to join – receive a free bottle of Lindores Abbey Aqua Vitae, two tickets to the distillery and a 10% discount from the online shop.
The competition opened last night with 90 entries already received. Proposed monikers so far include Aqua and Vitae, Angel and Spirit, and Peaty and Smokey. Get thinking and give those kitties some names!
Construction of the Lindores Abbey Distillery started in 2016, a project which will see production return to the “spiritual home” of Scotch whisky for the first time in 500 years.
