Graffiti artist designs lim-ed Hennessy VS bottle

Cognac house Hennessy has partnered with American graffiti artist JonOne for the latest release from its Very Special Limited Edition bottle series.

The new limited edition bottle has been designed by American graffiti artist JonOne

The new design is the seventh in an ongoing series of collaborations between Hennessy VS and several internationally renowned artists, including including Ryan McGinness, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemêos, Futura, and KAWS.

The Paris-based artist found inspiration for the Hennessy VS Limited Edition bottle during a visit to Cognac, France, where he learned of the brand’s history and creative process.

“When you speak to people at Hennessy who love what they do, it resonates,” said JonOne.

“I can relate to that emotion: They create beauty with their own hands; they know the joy of creation. For them and for me, it’s not just a job, it’s part of your life.”

JonOne built layer upon layer of freestyle splashes of colour, intermixed with Hennessy’s own imagery, said to “echo the complex layers” of flavours and aromas created during the Cognac blending process.

“The freedom of the street is what made me want to pursue art in the first place,” added JonOne.

“The subway is like a museum that runs through the city. Then, as now, my question is, ‘How do I make my art live?’ I want people to look at it and say, ‘What is this?’. Hopefully, they’ll be inspired. I want to see where it takes them — and where it might lead me next.”

A gift edition is also available, featuring a 1.75 litre bottle decorated with JonOne’s iconic tag and Hennessy iconography and is available for US$200.

The Hennessy Very Special Limited Edition bottles by JonOne is available now on ReserveBar.com and at fine retailers nationwide from July at an RRP of US$35 for 750ml.
