Conker shuns flavoured gin for coffee liqueur

Dorset’s “first” gin distillery, Conker Spirit, has “avoided the well-trodden gin distiller’s path of expanding into flavoured gins” with the launch of a cold brew coffee liqueur.

Conker Spirit Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur is made using speciality coffee beans from Brazil and Ethiopia

Conker Spirit Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur is the second permanent addition to Conker Spirit’s range, joining Conker Spirit Dorset Dry Gin.

The brand partnered with Dorset-based Beanpress Coffee Co. to select speciality Brazilian and Ethiopian coffee beans for the liqueur.

Conker claims that “by brewing the liqueur cold, [we] do not extract any of the acidic, bitter elements of the bean, thereby honouring the subtle fruity chocolate notes of each bean variety”.

The four-ingredient product is said to be devoid of the “usual additives, flavourings and thickeners” found in other coffee liqueurs.

“It seems the UK market has become accustomed to the limited options of overly sweetened coffee ‘flavoured’ spirits,” said the brand. “Conker Spirit aims to change that, with an honest and great-tasting Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur that coffee lovers will adore.”

Bottled at 25% abv, Conker Spirit Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur is available to buy online and through selected independent stockists at an RRP of £30.00.

Based in Southbourne, Bournemouth, Conker Spirit was founded by Rupert Holloway three years ago.

Conker Spirit Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur is one of a number of coffee-infused spirits products released lately. Earlier this week, Baileys launched a ready-to-drink alcoholic iced coffee, while a UK entrepreneur launched what is claimed to be the “world’s first” coffee-infused mezcal last month.
