Camus and Campari team up in China

Gruppo Campari has appointed Camus Cognac subsidiary Yuanliu International Trade as its exclusive distributor in China’s domestic market.

Camus’ Yuanliu division will now distribute Gruppo Campari products in China

The deal will see Campari’s sales team integrated into Yuanliu’s operations to “strengthen” the geographic footprint of the joint product portfolio.

Yuanliu was founded in 2007 to grow the Camus Cognac brand in China. Today is also handles the distribution of The Glenrothes single malt whisky, Label 5 blended whisky, and Chateau Laubade Armagnanc.

The combined Yuanliu-Campari range also includes Skyy Vodka, Grand Marnier, Campari, Cinzano, Wild Turkey and Aperol.

“We are very proud of our achievements in China, not only due to the growth of our own brands, but also for the confidence shown by our partners who have entrusted us with helping them grow their brands in the country,” said  Cyril Camus, owner and president of the House of Camus.

“After completing a year of double-digit growth in 2016, our China subsidiary is extremely pleased to welcome the Campari brands and team members into its organization, allowing it to offer the trade a complete range of world class products.”

Bob Kunze-Concewitz, Gruppo Campari CEO, added: “We are very happy to enter into an exclusive distribution partnership with Yuanliu, a subsidiary of the French Cognac House of Camus, for the very promising Chinese market.

“We believe that our brands, which are complementary to those currently distributed by Yuanliu, will accelerate growth in China thanks to a stronger combined portfolio in the capable hands of a professional local operator.”

In its 2016 full-year results, released last month, Gruppo Campari said trading in China “continued to be tough”, however sales in the wider Asia Pacific region climbed 6.4%.
