By Nicola CarruthersBreakthru Beverage Group has revealed a new leadership structure for its United Division, dedicated to the Diageo and Moët Hennessy USA portfolios.
Matt Wind has been named vice president, business development, United Division – Diageo
Matt Wind has been named vice president, business development, United Division – Diageo. In his new role, he will be responsible for all sales and marketing in the nine United Division markets that have dedicated Diageo sections.
Wind started his career in the drinks industry in 1993 with Romano Brothers Beverage Company in Chicago before moving to Wirtz Beverage, where he was promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing in 2011.
Additionally, Cristian Yanez’s role will change to vice president, business development, United Division – Moët Hennessy.
Yanez previously served as vice president, trade marketing – Moët Hennessy, but his role has been expanded to include all sales and marketing efforts in the seven United Division markets that have dedicated Moët Hennessy sections. In addition, he will support the Moët Hennessy business in franchise states as needed.
Yanez joined Breakthru Beverage Group from Moët Hennessy USA where he held the role of vice president, trade marketing.
He previously held other vice president business roles within Moët Hennessy USA and worked for LVMH winery, Bodegas Chandon, in his home country of Argentina until he moved to the US in 2007.
Kevin O’Neil, executive vice president, United Division, said: “Cristian and Matt have been enormously successful in their careers and are highly regarded by colleagues and peers in our industry. I am confident that they will add great value to both the Diageo and Moët Hennessy businesses through these roles.”
The new hires follow Lloyd Sobel’s appointment as executive vice president for Breakthru Beverage Group, two months after he was dismissed as CEO and president of Empire Merchants.
A US judge recently dismissed a fraud case brought by Empire Merchants against Reliable Churchill and Breakthru Beverage Group, which claimed the pair “smuggled” wines and spirits into New York.
