Macallan unveils Rare Cask Black MOP edition

Edrington Global Travel Retail (GTR) has released a Macallan Rare Cask Black limited edition in partnership with Steven Klein as part of its Masters of Photography series.

The Macallan has launched a Rare Cask Black limited edition pack into GTR

While the lightly smoky, Sherry cask-matured Macallan Rare Cask Black liquid remains unchanged, the new presentation box features Klein’s visual interpretation of the Scotch whisky.

The pack previews a new project from the photographer and filmmaker, which seeks to capture moments in time through his “disruptive” perspective.

In addition, the pack contains an Ice Baller Double from US-based ice firm WinterSmiths, said to be the “world’s first” gadget of its type to produce crystal clear ice spheres, a Macallan signature.

“Rare Cask Black has clearly made its mark since launch last year,” said Tellis Baroutsis, managing director, Edrington GTR.

“It has captured people’s imagination around the world with its distinctive look and unexpected flavour. By releasing a limited edition of Rare Cask Black, married with the challenging vision of Steven Klein and ‘at home’ ice baller, we believe this is a truly compelling combination.”

The Rare Cask Black edition, containing the 48% abv whisky and the ice baller, is limited to 5,000 bottles in global travel retail, and is priced at US$495. The presentation is available now from selected key airports.
