Pinkster Gin builds on international expansion
By Annie HayesExport is “firmly on the agenda” for British brand Pinkster Gin, which has bolstered its sales force with a raft of appointments.
Pinkster Gin has bolstered its sales force with a raft of appointmentsFollowing a wildly successful crowd-funding campaign in May, Pinkster has made its first overseas appointment with general manager Dan McPherson in Australia.
Melbourne-based McPherson, formerly of Cheeky Rascals Cider and drinks distributor Paramount Liquour, will promote Pinkster across trade channels in Australia with an initial focus on the city’s bar scene.
Co-founder, Will Holt said: “The combination of our pink USP, delicate flavour and ‘Agreeably British Gin’ positioning appears to be hitting the spot down under. We launched there in December with our importers Direct Brands and the time’s right to add some extra sales muscle ahead of their summer.
“We’re hugely buoyed by the Pinkster potential in both Australia and Singapore, where we’ve also just launched.”
In addition, the brand has bolstered its UK management team, with Holt appointed as marketing director on a full-time basis – joining managing director, Stephen Marsh, and newly promoted finance director, Georgina Northern, on the operational management team.
“Trading is brisk and we’ve been busy staffing up to ensure we can provide full support for our accounts,” said Holt.
“With a hectic schedule of consumer events, we’ve also taken on a dozen temporary staff to hit the road and run our stands, especially over the festive period.
“After rather too many years promoting other brands, I’m now 100% with Pinkster which the business warrants as the raspberry revolution continues to gather momentum both at home and overseas. Forging partnerships with appropriate upmarket, lifestyle brands will be a priority over the coming months.”
In addition, Sophie Hawksby, formerly of Masons Gin, has been appointed as a brand ambassador for the North East, where she will be tasked with fuelling on- and off-trade growth in the region.
Her remit will include the Borders, though the company is still seeking a Scottish representative.
