Heaven Hill expands maturation capacity

Bourbon producer Heaven Hill has expanded its operations with the opening of a vast new warehousing complex in Kentucky.

Heaven Hill has significantly expanded its maturation capacity

The 175-acre site, based in Cox’s Creek, Nelson County, will have capacity to hold more than 660,000 barrels once completed. The individual warehouses have seven floors and cover 40,000 square feet, making them the largest warehouses permitted by law in Kentucky.

Currently, Heaven Hill owns 1.2 million whiskey barrels that are ageing across the state.

The company’s president, Max L. Shapira, held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Warehouse Two to mark the site’s opening.

“Heaven Hill has been lifting America’s spirit since 1935 and the opening of this fifty third warehouse signifies our commitment to this booming industry,” he said.

“As we unveil the newest expansion to Heaven Hill’s infrastructure, we recognise the forethought and perseverance my father and his four uncles had to build a solid foundation for success. More than eight decades later, Heaven Hill is proudly at the forefront of the Bourbon renaissance as we look forward to the next 80 years.”

At the start of this year, Heaven Hill, which produces that Evan Williams and Elijah Craig Bourbon brands, announced a US$15m expansion of its Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky.
