Indian-Scotch hybrid whisky to launch

The company behind the “world’s first” Scotch and Japanese whisky blend is in talks with other international distillers to create more hybrid expressions, including India’s Amrut Distillery.

All three expression of The Glover whisky have now sold out

Fusion Whisky Limited, which recently changed its name from TBG & Co, has now sold out of all three versions of its The Glover whisky – a range inspired by 19th century industrialist Thomas Blake Glover containing liquid from Scotland’s Glen Garioch and Longmorn distilleries and Japan’s Hanyu distillery.

Alex Bruce, managing director of Scotland’s Adelphi Distillery, created the expressions in collaboration with whisky expert Charles MacLean.

Fusion Whisky has announced that it is now “close” to launching a “fusion blend” containing single malt from Scottish distilleries and Indian whisky from Amrut Distillery.

The firm plans to launch the whisky “in the next few weeks” and list it with international retailers before Christmas.

“While Thomas Blake Glover was the inspiration for our company founding, and the whisky has been a real success, there are other great Scots whose international legacy we want to honour, and other global distilleries we’re looking forward to working with,” said David Moore, director at Fusion Whisky. “It makes sense to extend the series.

“We were overwhelmed by the level of interest for the Glover whisky, both for its concept as well as its look, aroma and taste. No one else is creating this type of whisky, and we want to make more.”

Fusion Whisky said it has “not ruled out” future expressions of The Glover, but that it is researching Scottish historical figures and options for casks from international single malt distilleries.

“We want to build on the phenomenal success we’ve enjoyed in the past year,” added Graham Langley, also a director at Fusion Whisky. “By bringing in a dedicated project manager we can focus on building the Fusion Whisky brand and continue to pioneer our innovative concept of blending history and storytelling with beautiful whisky from Scotland and our partners worldwide.”
