Drinks by the Dram unveils £10k whisky calendar

In the run-up to Christmas, Drinks by the Dram is to release a new Very Old & Rare Whisky Advent Calendar, priced at almost £10,000 (US$13,300).

Following the launch of Drinks by the Dram’s Old and Rare Whisky Advent Calendar (£999.95) last year, the new calendar features 24 individually numbered 30ml drams of what are described as “some of the world’s most sought-after whiskies”.

Specific details have not yet been disclosed, but the £9,999.95 calendar includes expressions from closed distilleries, a 60-year-old single malt and a whisky worth up to £19,000.

It is presented in a bespoke wooden box built by cabinet-maker Simon Jewell Designs in Kent, and is available in a walnut or macassar ebony finish.

Drinks by the Dram, launched by independent UK drinks distributor Maverick Drinks in 2010, is also set to unveil a new version of its classic Whisky Advent Calendar for 2016, containing whisky aged over 50-years and worth up to £600 a bottle.

The company will also launch brand new editions in its calendar range, including calendars dedicated to American, Irish and Japanese whiskies, as well as collaborations with Glenfarclas, That Boutique-y Whisky Company and Origin Gin.

The full range of Drinks by the Dram calendars for 2016 will be available later this month.
