Absolut debuts Facebook Messenger bot
By Nicola CarruthersPernod Ricard-owned Absolut vodka has launched a Facebook Messenger bot, allowing users to find a free drink in their area by engaging with the tool.
Users can show the code to the bartender to get a free Absolut Lemon Drop, Absolut Mule, or Absolut and sodaThe vodka brand unveiled the Facebook Messenger bot yesterday (12 September) in the US, which tells users where to go to get a free drink on Absolut.
Facebook first released its chatbot platform in April, enabling developers to build robots that use artificial intelligence and natural language processing to let people talk with businesses just like they do with friends and family on Messenger.
Facebook Messenger users can open the Absolut bot to choose a city and a neighbourhood, then pick a restaurant or bar, and a web browser window will open to generate a code.
Users can then show the code to the bartender to get either a free Absolut Lemon Drop, Absolut Mule, or Absolut and soda.
The bot currently only serves customers in Denver, New York, Chicago, and Dallas.
In July, Absolut vodka collaborated with electronic musician deadmau5 to create a “first of its kind” interactive gaming experience which invites fans to join the artist on a night out in a virtual world.
