Tullamore launches two single malts at Harrods

William Grant & Sons-owned Tullamore Dew has partnered with Harrods to introduce a new range of single malt Irish whiskeys to the UK.

Tullamore Dew 14 Year Old Single Malt and Tullamore Dew 18 Year Old Single Malt will both be exclusive to Harrods for the month of August.

Both single malts have been finished in four casks – Bourbon, Oloroso Sherry, Port and Madeira – a process which is said to offer “a uniquely rich and mellow taste”.

Tullamore Dew 14 Year Old Single Malt is said to be “rich and sweet with layers of fruit, oak and subtle spice”, while the 18 Year Old expression offers notes of “mellow vanilla oak, intertwined with cinnamon, baked apple, toasted marshmallows and a biscuity sweetness”.

John Quinn, Tullamore Dew global brand ambassador, said: “Both Tullamore Dew 14 Year Old Single Malt and Tullamore Dew 18 Year Old Single Malt have been born of our desire to craft exceptional whiskeys of true character.

“Thanks to triple distillation, they are particularly smooth – and their highly distinctive four cask finish gives them a rich depth and extraordinary balance.

“Their unique abv of 41.3% is the ideal strength to balance the rich flavour with the smooth mouthfeel and finish.”

A Limited Edition Tullamore Dew Celebratory Phoenix Single Batch was also introduced to the UK at the same time, and it too will be exclusively available from Harrods throughout August.

The expression was launched to celebrate the opening of the new Tullamore Dew distillery in 2014, and offers “mellow complexity, deep leafy, malty notes and smooth vanilla oakiness”.

Bottled at 55% abv, the whiskey is a blend of all three types of – Irish whiskey, pure pot-still, single malt and grain whiskey – and has been finished in virgin Oak casks. Each bottle is numbered.

Quinn added: “Courage and optimism is a term often associated with the Irish Spirit. Even when faced with adversity and obstacles, the people of Tullamore town rose like the Phoenix to rebuild it. We created the Tullamore Dew. Phoenix to pay homage to the immeasurable strength of the people of the town, where our whiskey was born.”

Visitors to Harrods from 8-13 and 18-20 August can enjoy interactive tastings of the new single malts and Tullamore Dew Phoenix, led by Tullamore Dew distillery ambassador, Kevin Pigott.

Tullamore Dew 14 Year Old Single Malt, Tullamore Dew 18 Year Old Single Malt and Tullamore Dew Phoenix are available in limited release retailing at RRP £59.95, £99.95 and £54.95 respectively.
