Tequila & Mezcal Fest readies for 2016 return

London’s annual celebration of agave-based spirits, Tequila & Mezcal Fest, is set to return for a third consecutive year at a new, larger venue.

Tequila and Mezcal Fest is set to return for 2016

Taking place from 17-18 September at East London’s Truman Brewery, the educational event is expected to attract more than 3,000 spirits enthusiasts.

Each day will be split into two sessions, afternoon and evening, to “ensure there’s enough agave love to go around”.

Patrón Tequila will return to Tequila Fest as a main sponsor, offering visitors a taste of its winning Margarita of the Year 2016 for the first time outside of Mexico and North America.

In addition, Fentimans is the official mixer sponsor and will have two signature cocktails on hand, one made with Peloton de la Muerte Mezcal and the other with Patrón.

Other brands present include Olmeca, Casco Viejo, Herradura, Ocho, Fortaleza, El Jolgorio Mezcal, Nuestra Soledad Mezcal, Mezcales de Leyenda, and Amores Mezcal.

UK brand ambassadors and bartenders will be on-hand hosting seminars and masterclasses, such as Margarita tutorials. In addition, some of London’s most popular Mexican restaurants will be offering their produce, including Barrio Bars, Lupita, Camion, Cafe Pacifico, Condesa, and Wahaca.

A range of creative and cultural activities will also run concurrently, with a mariachi band and folklore dancers taking centre stage, along with an Aztec ceremony performance, an art exhibition by artist Honorio Robledo and a photographic exhibition dedicated to the agave process.
