Sailor Jerry to unveil ‘The Ride’ on Facebook Live

Sailor Jerry rum has partnered with motorbike enthusiast hub Choppertown to execute “a UK marketing first” by premiering the video for its road trip ‘The Ride’ on Facebook Live.

Footage from The Ride will premiere on Facebook Live this coming Thursday

The video features interactive commentary by the riders from the nine-day road trip, who went head to head completing challenges from shark eating to tattooing and indoor skydiving to win a customised Harley-Davidson Street Bob and a trip to “Norman Collins’ spiritual home”, Hawaii.

This year’s teams – who customised their own Sailor Jerry tailor-made Harley Davidsons to take out on the road – included Hackney Wick-based bike specialists, Kingdom of Kicks, Welsh motorcycle club FTH and The Originals, 2015’s returning challengers.

This Thursday (25 August) at 7pm, Choppertown fans, motorbike enthusiasts and followers of The Ride 2016 will have the opportunity to experience the premiere along with the riders, with the opportunity to quiz them on the challenges, customising their Harley-Davidsons, and stories from the road.

EmmaLi Stenhouse, brand ambassador Sailor Jerry UK, said: “The Ride was such a blast last year, we decided to bring it back with a bang. The teams killed it on their adventures on the UK’s ultimate road trip, travelling more than 1,800 miles combined. This year we really upped the ante by testing the bikers to the limit!”

The Ride ended at a mini festival in Hertfordshire, where singer and respected tattoo artist Frank Carter performed for the riders with music from Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes’ album, Blossom before judging a chilli eating challenge for the teams.

After a gruelling adventure, The Originals were crowned overall champions for their efforts in challenges such as cliff jumping, chicken wing eating and waxing.

Pro BMX’er, Fids, from The Originals said: “It has been awesome riding around the country with Sailor Jerry. Especially finally getting to ride our custom Harley-Davidson, it was well worth the wait. Plus, it’s not every day you get to don fake tan, fake nails and fancy dress on the back of a sick Harley-Davidson Street Bob. It’s definitely been one of my favourite rides to date.”
