TOTC announces Spirited Awards 2016 nominees

The world’s premier cocktail festival Tales of the Cocktail has named The Spirits Business in its list of top nominees for the 10th annual Spirited Awards.

Tales of the Cocktail has announced the top 10 nominees for each category in its Spirited Awards 2016

Following a rigorous evaluation of more than 1,500 nominees, a committee of judges selected 10 top nominees for each of the Spirited Awards’ 24 categories, which are divided into American, International, Writing, and Global sections.

Under the Writing section, The Spirits Business has been placed in the top 10 nominations list for Best Cocktail & Spirits Publication for a third year running.

“These nominees are just a snapshot of the talent and creativity that is in our industry today,” said Simon Ford, Spirited Awards chairman and host. “In order to truly capture what is going on in the global cocktail movement, our short lists would need to be doubled.”

“These awards recognise the people and places that captured the imagination of the 110 judges, but please also remember these awards are celebrating the industry we all love and the resurgence of the cocktail movement.”

The winners in each category of the Spirited Awards will be announced on 23 July at the Sheraton New Orleans as part of the 14th annual Tales of the Cocktail festival, which will be held on 19-24 July. A shortlist of four nominees in each category will be revealed on 20 June.

TOTC will also honour the life of the late Milk & Honey founder and Lifetime Achievement Inductee Sasha Petraske, who passed away last summer.

“Making the Spirited Awards top ten is no small feat,” said Ann Tuennerman, founder of Tales of the Cocktail. “We receive hundreds of nominations in each category so everyone on this list should be proud of this hard-earned accomplishment.

“With the quality of bars, bartenders, ambassadors, distillers and writers we have in our industry, it was not an easy task for our judges. I want to thank them for lending their time and expertise in narrowing down to our top tens.”
