Glencairn sees full-year sales soar 20%

Scottish crystal-maker Glencairn has witnessed a 20% sales uplift in its 2015/16 financial year, buoyed by increasing consumer interest in premium-plus whiskies.

Glencairn reports a stellar 2015, driven by partnerships such as its Boelter agreement

Sales reached £8 million (about US$11.7m) in the year to 30 April, reports The Herald, up from £6.7m (US$9.8m) in 2014/15.

Glencairn products are now available on all seven continents.

Alongside to its signature tasting lasses, Glencairn also produces glassware directly for Scotch and other spirits producers.

In March 2016, Glencairn announced it had entered a US$2.5m(£1.7m) manufacturing and distribution agreement with American glassware decorator Boelter.

Under the agreement, the first of its kind for Glencairn, Boetler will decorate and distribute Glencairn products in the US market.

“As our expansion plans in the USA continues apace, entering into partnership with the country’s largest independent company in the industry will improve our customer experience and speed up the distribution process within the USA,” Glencairn director Scott Davidson said at the time.

The 20% sales increase follows a 14% uplift in 2014, which was driven by a 1.5% investment strategy.
