Baileys unveils dairy-free, gluten-free product

Diageo has launched a dairy-free and gluten-free variant of its Baileys liqueur on a trial basis in North America, with plans to develop a vegan iteration of the brand.

Baileys Almande is both dairy-free and gluten-free

Baileys Almande – made with almond milk, almond essence cane sugar, purified water and real vanilla – is currently available in select cities in the US and Canada.

Diageo said it is also examining the possibility of creating a vegan Baileys product due to “great interest” from the vegan community following the release of Baileys Almande.

A spokesperson for Diageo said: “Since its release, the vegan community has expressed great interest in the product both in the US and beyond, which is quite exciting for this innovative new product.

“As a result, we took the time to look into our ingredients beyond gluten and dairy free specifics to determine the possibility of it also being a vegan product. This testing has determined that the liquid has a derivative of beeswax and honey.

“We are working to find a resolution to meet all vegan requirements, and will let people know when we have more news to share along with news about larger availability in the US and globally.”

Baileys Almande is the latest innovation from the liqueur brand, following the launch of Cognac-based Baileys XC.
