55 Above launches orange-infused gin

Essex-based distillery 55 Above has released Orange Gin, a line extension produced using an infusion process.

55 Above has launched an orange-infused gin

Produced using natural juniper flavours mixed with botanicals including tangerines, Seville orange and lemon zests, coriander, bay leaves and macadamia nuts, Orange Gin was developed to cater to bar customers who enjoy “invigorating new experiences”.

Serving suggestions include over ice, or in a traditional gin and tonic format with a large wedge of fresh orange.

55 Above is offering the trade a sampling opportunity until the end of August, with 55 20cl bottles set aside.

“Our intention is as always to deliver a compromise free product,” said Craig Hogg, 55 Above brand and development manager.

“In calling it a ‘product’ it sounds clinical and contrived – but the gin we are now launching is far from clinical or contrived and in fact it was borne out of an idea to create a crisp gin with a unique taste, more like an experience than a product.

“The gin took some nine months of meddling with the recipe until we finally found a product that is unique and gives a lovely citrus undertone – just perfect for a nice summer afternoon!”

55 Above Orange Gin is presented in a “Little Sumo” black and orange paint-effect bottle finished with an orange wax stopper. The product retails at £37.50 for a 70cl format.

The product will be showcased on the 55 Above stand (B80) at Imbibe London, which takes place from 4-5 July at London Olympia.
