SPI Group names Dmitry Efimov as CEO
By Amy HopkinsStolichnaya Vodka producer SPI Group has appointed Dmitry Efimov as its new CEO following the departure of Val Mendeleev.
SPI Group, maker of Stolichnaya Vodka, has appointed a new CEOEfimov’s appointment is still “subject to finalisation of local law formalities” and a spokesperson has confirmed that further details will be given at a later date.
While Mendeleev quietly resigned from SPI Group in August 2015, the company only confirmed the news last month.
Mendeleev served as both SPI Group CEO and Stoli Group CEO from November 2008 to February 2015, when Rob Cullins was appointed CEO of Stoli Group and Mendeleev announced he would continue as head of SPI Group.
Mendeleev left the company to pursue private investment opportunities and was appointed global operating partner at Bamboo Finance, a private equity firm, in March 2016.
Prior to joining SPI Group, Mendeleev was on the board of directors for a group of premium wine companies, including Ornellaia, Masseto, and Castelgiocondo.
Last year Rene Lek, who has previously held roles at Pepsico and Shell, was appointed chief financial officer of SPI Group, replacing Sebastiaan Boelen who, after six years with the firm is moving to the UK to “pursue private interests”.
Meanwhile John Esposito, who joined Stoli Group USA in January 2013 as its first president, was promoted the board of Stoli Group, and chairman of Stoli Group USA.
