Novo Fogo has released four new limited edition single barrel cachaças aged between one and five years ahead of the Rio Olympics this summer.

Each barrel has produced from 2014 to 372 bottles, which are produced on the edge of the Atlantic Rainforest in the southern state of Paraná

The youngest release is single barrel cachaça, Barrel 86, which has been aged for one year in a single oak barrel.

Bottled at 48% abv, the variant is said to give aromas of butterscotch and Moscato grapes, with coffee cake, honeydew melon, vanilla and honey flavours on the palate.

Just 372 bottels of Barrel 86 are available to purchase at an RRP of $49.99 per 750ml.

Barrel 33 has been matured for three years and is described as having notes of allspice, clove and pear on the nose, leading to flavours of baked apple, dried apricot, tobacco leaf, kumquat and green olives on the palate.

A total of 372 bottles of Barrel 33 have been made carrying an abv of 44.5%, and an RRP of $69.99 per 750ml.

Barrel 152 was left to rest for three years and has taken on notes of powdered sugar, toasted coconut and black walnut, with aromas of salt, pine, buttercream and raw wood.

With an abv of 44%, just 204 bottles have gone on sale for RRP $69.99 per 750ml.

The oldest age statement in the range is five-year-old Barrel 87, of which 300 bottles have been made.

The nose is described as offering notes of toffee, green peppers and molasses, while the palate delivers tastes of prunes, pecans, crème brulèe, chamomile, bitter chocolate and raising.

Bottled at 41% abv, Barrel 87 has an RRP of $99.99 per 750ml.

Bars wishing to stock a bottle of Novo Fogo Single Barrel cachaça can also have custom-engraved corks displaying the name of their company or logo of their venue.
