Sazerac introduces Peychaud’s Aperitivo

Sazerac-owned Peychaud’s Bitters has moved into liqueurs with the launch of a new Aperitivo variant, which will be initially available in New Orleans.

Peychaud’s Aperitivo has been created to mixed with a “wide variety of spirits”

Peychaud’s Aperitivo is described as an “extremely versatile spirit” and has been designed to be mixed with a “wide variety of spirits”, either behind the bar or at home.

“Peychaud’s Aperitivo is a refreshing spirit that’s easy to drink, and the perfect addition for fun and fresh cocktails,” said Jana Ritter, associate brand manager.

“We are very excited to introduce Peychaud’s Aperitivo to the cocktail world and to Peychaud’s fans everywhere.”

Bottled at 22% proof (11% abv), Peychaud’s Aperitivo has now launched in New Orleans and will roll out to other markets in spring 2016 at an RRP of US$19.99.

Peychaud’s Bitter was founded by Antoine Amedie Peychaud, who began producing bitters in a New Orleans apothecary more than 150 years ago, eventually becoming the lead bartender of the Sazerac Coffeehouse.

In 2014, Sazerac released a rye whiskey barrel-aged version of Peychaud’s Bitters, to help give cocktails a spicy twist.
