Glasgow Distillery Co. releases second Prometheus variant

Following the launch of its inaugural expression last year, The Glasgow Distillery Company has unveiled the second release in its Prometheus series, called Prometheus 27 Year Old.

The Glasgow Distillery Company has launched the second release in its Prometheus series: Prometheus 27 Year Old

In line with the distillery’s first bottling, Prometheus 26 Year Old, the new expression is bottled at 47% abv, and is identified only as “a very rare single malt from Speyside” as the exact distillery of origin is kept secret.

The Prometheus bottlings comprise a selection of “rare” single malt whisky casks, aged for around 30 years, which were acquired by The Glasgow Distillery Company in 2014.

Described as “rich, round, soft and fruity with a hint of lightly charred oak on the nose”, Prometheus 27 Year Old delivers “a powerful, savoury, spicy taste with a long, slightly smoky finish”.

“At The Glasgow Distillery Company, we pride ourselves on bringing to our consumers only the finest quality spirits and in our opinion, Prometheus 27 Year Old delivers this in full”, said Liam Hughes, Glasgow Distillery co-founder.

The expression will make its debut at the Munich Whisky Festival, the Malt Masters Festival in Hong Kong and Mahesh Patel’s Universal Whisky Experience in Las Vegas over the next three weeks.

Glasgow Distillery Company’s commercial director, David Brown, said: “Following on from the success of Prometheus 26 Year Old we have had strong demand to release the 27 Year Old. With its bold new packaging, this wonderfully aged Speyside single malt whisky is something we are very proud of. To launch on three continents in three weeks is ambitious for a relatively small distillery, but we felt it was the perfect way to reflect the confidence we have in our brands.”

Prometheus 27 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky will be available from specialist retailers and online from mid 2016, retailing at approximately £549 for a 70cl bottle.
