First Craft Bartender Summit set to launch

Bar and mixology training firm A Bar Above will host the inaugural online Craft Bartender Summit in April.

The Craft Bartender Summit will take place in April

Due to take place on 17 April, the summit is a web-based event designed to make craft bar education “free and convenient” for all bartenders with internet access.

The online experience is designed to cater for thousands of hospitality workers, reducing the problems of finding cover for shifts and travel costs.

“For years we’ve heard bartenders say they want to attend educational seminars but can’t get their shifts covered or afford the cost of travel,” commented Julia Tunstall, co-founder of A Bar Above and the host of the summit. “This event is our way of helping make a craft bar education accessible and affordable to every bartender worldwide.”

The summit will provide “easily accessible” seminars that are “interactive and engaging”.

Each seminar will be broadcast online alongside a live chat window. Those wishing to take part in the event can watch from anywhere with internet connection and put questions to the presenter in the live chat.

In addition, viewers unable to take part in the live chat can enjoy free replays of the summit, and seminar materials will be provided to everyone who registers for the event.

The presentations and seminars will focus on skills and challenges craft bartenders encounter behind the bar, such as craft bar techniques, business skills, product knowledge and careers beyond the bar.

“It’s hard enough to find time for education when you’re working as a bartender, so we’re trying to make it as easy as possible,” added Tunstall. “Whether you join the live screenings or watch the recaps later on, our goal is to help you learn something you can implement in your very next shift.”

Registration is free and available to all bartenders and beverage industry professionals of legal drinking age.
