Wenneker Swizzle Masters rounds open for 2016

Entries have opened for The Wenneker Swizzle Masters 2016, where one supremely skillful bartender will walk away with £1,000 and the coveted Swizzle Master 2016 title.

Entrants must use at least a dash of Wenneker Liqueurs in every cocktail they submit

The world’s only virtual cocktail competition, The Wenneker Swizzle Masters is designed to test bartenders’ abilities to create a great tasting, balanced and beautiful drink that can be recreated by anyone, anywhere in the world. Each round calls for a different base spirit and theme, with one constant: the use of at least a dash of Wenneker Liqueurs.

Over the next nine months, our talented panel of judges will meet to assess 10 shortlisted cocktails for each round, which will be adeptly recreated by an independent bartender.

Marks will be awarded based on how well the recipe sticks to the specified brief, the given name, presentation, aroma, taste, overall balance and how easy the drink is to make.

“2015 was a stellar year for Swizzlers and 2016 looks set to be even better, with a new line-up of base spirits to reflect current cocktail trends,” said Kristiane Sherry, editor of The Spirits Business.

“Swizzlers that succeed are genuine creatives with a real understanding of how flavour and aroma combine.

“The class of 2015 truly excelled and I can’t wait to see – and, of course, taste! – what 2016’s entrants have in store for our judging panel.”

The bartender behind each winning recipe will receive an honorary certificate and his or her recipe will be automatically entered into the semi-final in October.

From nine recipes, five semi-finalists will proceed to the grand final in November, when they will battle it out one last time for the Swizzle Master 2016 accolade.

The winner will receive a trophy, certificate, an annual subscription to The Spirits Business magazine and £1,000.

Although the deadline for January’s Smoky Mezcal round has now passed, all upcoming rounds are open for entry up until its deadline day. Please check our newly-updated rules page, found here, for more information: www.swizzlemasters.com/rules
