Tomintoul Aged 40 Years goes on sale for £2,500
Angus Dundee Distillers has launched just 500 bottles of a 40-year-old quadruple cask Tomintoul single malt whisky, with a price tag of £2,500.

Four American oak hogsheads were found in warehouse four at Tomintoul Distillery, containing whisky that had been laid to rest in 1974.
The whisky has been bottled in handcrafted crystal decanters, each of which has been individually numbered.
The bottles are then presented in a wooden gift box, decorated in matte black lacquer and featuring a twin door opening revealing a cushioned padding interior.
Inside, consumers will find a crystal glass stopper and information about the quadruple cask release – dubbed the “gentle dram”.
On the nose, the expression is said to give an aroma of mixed fruits and hints of pineapple, leading to flavours of summer fruits, buttery toffee, coffee, liquorice and lemon sherbet on the palate.
The finish is said to deliver gentle oaky-spice with sweet liquorice.
With an abv of 43.1%, Tomintoul Aged 40 Years is available in Europe, Asia and other select markets at an RRP of €3,375 (US$3,750) per 700ml bottle.
