‘World’s first’ airport spirits tasting room opens

Aviation Gin producer House Spirits Distillery has partnered with the Port of Portland to launch the “world’s first” spirits tasting room in an airport.

The brand plans to host regular tasting classes for flyers

The producer has held a kiosk at Portland International Airport (PDX) for more than two years, and plans to “expand the brand’s footprint drastically” by launching The House Spirits Distillery PDX Tasting Room.

The new 1,250 square foot facility in Terminal C is said to be the “world’s first”, and will host regular mini classes designed to introduce flyers to House Spirits Distillery products during their visit.

House Spirits Distillery’s entire portfolio of spirits will be available for sampling and purchase, and the company also plans to release a handful of distillery and tasting room exclusives.

“House Spirits Distillery has been a leader in the craft distilling community since its inception in 2004, and the opening of our new tasting room – the first ever standalone spirits tasting room at an airport location – is an important step for our entire industry, “said Thomas Mooney, CEO and co-owner of House Spirits Distillery.

“Portland International Airport is an institution that shares our values and cares deeply about introducing travellers to Portland’s world class artisanal culture, and we are proud to continue to be a part of that experience in an even bigger way.”
