Distiller 2.0 app extends scope of spirits reviews

A new version of spirits recommendation app Distiller has launched, expanding its focus from whisky to now include reviews of rum, Tequila, mezcal, Cognac and more.

Review and recommendation app Distiller has launched an updated version

Distiller 2.0 combines reviews from a panel of experts and its users via a proprietary algorithm to provide personalised bottle recommendations for users in both bars and retail stores.

The app also features reviews and recommendations of brandy, Armagnac, cachaca and pisco.

An upgraded recommendation engine analyses flavour elements across different spirit types based on custom questions developed for each new category. Each category is colour-coordinated to enable easy navigation for users.

In the updated app, reviews are translated into a graphic that maps out a Flavor Profile, featuring new flavours such as hogo, rancio, roast and umami.

“When we launched Distiller, our attention was focused exclusively on whiskey, which remains my first love, but our ambition was always to be a universal recommendation platform for all spirits,” says Mikael Mossberg, co-founder and CEO of Distiller. “With the addition of rum, Tequila, mezcal and brandy, today we are much closer to achieving that goal.”

Brent Stiefel, co-founder and chairman of Distiller, added: “Distiller revolutionised the whiskey purchasing process for consumers by offering fully personalised advice from experts via a sophisticated algorithm.

“We are very excited and proud to bring our proven platform to a much broader array of spirits and a wider consumer demographic with Distiller 2.0.”
