Burn Stewart adds 20yo to Deanston range

Burn Stewart Distillers has extended its Deanston Scotch whisky portfolio with the release of a 20-year-old variant aged in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks.

Deanston Oloroso 20 Year Old is said to have a flavour of nutmeg and gingerbread

Deanston Oloroso 20 Year Old has been created at the Highland-based Deanston Distillery and is said to have a “rich and spicy palate” with flavours of nutmrg and gingerbread.

“True to the heritage of Deanston Distillery, which is rooted in community values, the Oloroso 20 Year Old has been crafted with the utmost care and dedication,” said Alison Gibb, global marketing manager at Burn Stewart Distillers, part of South Africa’s Distell Group.

“The rich, creamy, spicy influences imparted by the wood from the ex-Oloroso sherry casks give this malt a truly special character and we’re excited to announce its release in time for the festive season when it can be enjoyed with friends and family.”

Deanston Distillery was a cotton mill for 180 years until it was transformed into a distillery in 1966. The site opened a visitors’ centre in 2012.

In May this year, Deanston launched an 18-year-old whisky first aged in hogshead casks before being finished in first fill Kentucky Bourbon barrels at Deanston Distillery.
