‘World’s first’ edible alcohol shop opens
The founders of cocktail confectionery company Smith & Sinclair have opened what they claim is the “world’s first edible alcohol shop” in London.
Eat Your Drink sells alcoholic sweets including cocktail-flavoured candy floss, dip dabs and fruit pastilles
The Eat Your Drink shop in Carnaby Street sells alcoholic sweets including cocktail-flavoured candy floss, dip dabs and fruit pastilles.
Founders Melanie Goldsmith and Emile Bernard want consumers to “experience” alcohol in different ways.
Goldsmith told the Evening Standard: “Different scents will be pumped into different areas. Samples will be given out that people can experience the sweets in every way — from sucking on them to licking them, to breathing them to chewing on them.
“You get every other flavour first before the ethanol. The pastilles are coated in the flavour so you get a touch of grenadine or grapefruit but each sweet is 80% alcohol and contains 0.4 units.”
The shop will stock exclusive products including DIY candy floss jars which come in black cherry and hibiscus or beetroot and bubblegum flavours.
Alcoholic dip dabs will be available in Pina Colada and Mojito flavours and boxes of fruit pastilles will be stocked in gin, rum, and whisky flavours.
The shop will be open at 10 Carnaby Street from November 18 until Christmas Eve.
Smith & Sinclair’s alcoholic pastilles are available online at smithandsinclair.co.uk.
