Glen Moray ‘on track’ for January commissioning

La Martiniquaise Bardinet-owned Glen Moray is “on track” to commission its expanded whisky distillery from January, says master distiller Graham Coull.

Graham Coull, pictured in the existing Glen Moray stillhouse, says annual output at the distillery could hit 9m litres

Speaking to The Spirits Business at the distillery yesterday, Coull said annual output had already increased from 2.2m litres to 3.3m in 2015, and that next year’s volumes will hit 5m litres.

“We could squeeze almost 6m out,” Coull added, explaining that he has a “future vision” for a combined capacity of the existing and new facilities of 9m litres per year.

An 11-tonne mash tun, a set of external stainless steel washbacks and three wash stills form the expansion build. New warehousing facilities have also been added on-site.

The additional capacity will produce stock for Bardinet’s blended Scotch Label 5, which sold 2.6m 9-litre cases in 2014, up 3% year-on-year.
