Bourbon and gin distillery opens in Washington

A new Bourbon and gin distillery has opened in Washington, but those keen to take its whiskey home may have to wait a little longer as the first pre-sale batch sold out.

The first batch of Joseph Magnus Bourbon has already sold out

The brand, Jos. A. Magnus & Co., was inspired by pre-Prohibition distiller, blender and rectifier Joseph Magnus having discovered of an original bottle of his Bourbon that was more than 100-years-old.

Joseph Magnus Bourbon is a blend of Bourbon aged in white oak and finished in Oloroso Sherry, Pedro Ximenez Sherry and Cognac casks that is bottled t 50% abv.

Vigilant Gin is the product of desire to create the “perfect cocktail gin” and is a London style dry gin made with hand-foraged Oregon juniper berries, citrus and herbs.

“We are honoured to be the newest addition to the local distilling and brewing community in Ivy City, and grateful to the customers who caused our Bourbon to sell out before we even opened our distillery doors,” said Brett Thompson, Magnus master distiller.

“Folks interested in trying the Bourbon can visit our cocktail lounge, the Murray Hill Club, and order up a glass from our special supply or enjoy one of Nicole Hassoun’s custom gin cocktails.”

Joseph Magnu Bourbon is currently sold out but carries an RRP of US$92, while Vigilant Gin is available to purchase from the distillery at an RRP of US$32.
